Poker59

A free-to-play poker and blackjack room built for Switzerland — two games: the golden standard Texas Hold'em and Group Blackjack.

Zero fees, forever. No rake, no deposit, no withdrawal, no subscription, no ad gate, no hidden percentage. Chips are virtual and cannot be bought, sold or cashed out.

Texas Hold'em — the golden standard

  • Four seats: you plus Ada, Boris and Chloé. Blinds 5 / 10.
  • Pre-flop, flop, turn, river. Best five-card hand from two hole cards plus five shared.
  • Actions: Fold · Check · Call · Min · ½ Pot · Pot · All-in.
  • Side pots are built layer by layer when a short stack is all-in.

Group Blackjack

  • Six-deck shoe, one shared dealer, three seats.
  • Bet with chips, then Hit · Stand · Double · Split (up to four hands).
  • Blackjack pays 3:2. Dealer stands on all 17.

Switzerland — status of this app

This is a play-money social game, not a money game. Swiss law under the Money Gaming Act (Geldspielgesetz, SR 935.51, in force since 1 January 2019) covers games where a stake is required for the prospect of a money prize. Poker59 takes no stake and pays no cash prize, so there is nothing to license, deposit or withdraw.

If Poker59 were ever changed to accept real stakes or pay real winnings it would become a licensed casino game: online casino games including poker require a casino licence extension from the Federal Council plus a per-game permit from the ESBK / CFMJ. Unlicensed Switzerland-facing operators can be blacklisted and DNS-blocked at ISP level. Keep it play-money and none of that applies.

Deploying it publicly, keeping the source private

  • One self-contained file — no build step, no server, no dependencies.
  • Keep the source in a private repo; publish only the built file to a public static host (GitHub Pages, Netlify, Vercel, Cloudflare Pages).
  • No backend means no accounts service, no KYC, no payments — which is exactly why it stays fee-free and outside the licensing regime.
  • iPhone: Share → Add to Home Screen for a fullscreen app.
Note on the sign-in screen: it is a local gate, not real authentication — there is no server to authenticate against. It gates the room and hashes your password in-browser, but anyone with the file can read the source. Do not reuse a real password here.
